Språkservice - Online

Språkservice Online

Service design

To optimise and improve the user experience of Språkservice Online, we designed a user-friendly web portal for booking interpreters and translators. The portal guides users through the booking process step by step and matches their needs with a suitable interpreter or translator.

The work was divided into two phases, which you can read more about below.

In 2023, I did a thorogh job of modernizing the visual expression of Avantime's website.

The task was to reflect an updated mission and vision for the organization and develop an aesthetic that aims to communicate the agency's technical expertise combined with creative thinking.

Phase 1
The first phase began with a prestudy where existing user research and requirements were analysed to guide and prioritise design decisions. Stakeholders from Språkservice were involved throughout tje process, with dedicated meeting times to present insights, findings and to ensure that all phases were followed according to a clear timeline.

Central to the prestudy were user and stakeholder interviews, which helped to identify and prioritise user needs and requirements. By interviewing both users of the portal and service staff, valuble insights were obtained to guide design decisions.

After compiling the insights, a workshop was held where problem formulations and action plans were developed together with stakeholder from Språkservice. These action points then formed the basis for the design of the wireframes.

Through feedback and iterations on the wireframes, the team agreed on the final concept that would form the basis of the visual design and prototype.
Phase 2
In the second phase, the UI design process began. The focus was on creating a responsiv design. A key aspect of this phase was providing users with the option to choose between light and dark themes for increased accessibility.

The design team began by prioritising and designing the pages in a logical order, starting with the interpreting services page, which allows users to search for and book interpreters.

The next steps involved designing the home page and the profile page to provide users with an overview and personalised experience.

The design of the translation page followed, where users could request and manage translation services.

The team also worked on the bookings pages, allowing users to view both upcoming and past bookings.

Finally, we focused on the quality follow-up page for bookings, where users can provide feedback and evaluate the quality of the services provided by Språkservice interpreters and translators.

To ensure continuous feedback and progress, we worked agile with weekly iteration meetings. Every week there was a standing meeting where we presented progress and new iterations of the design. Feedback was collected and implemented, and the process continued until we were satisfied with all pages.

By following this methodology and conducting regular meetings and tests, we ensured that our service design was of the highest quality and met both user and client expectations.
